; Lived ExperienceLived experience is at the core of good mental health and suicide prevention. I bring my own personal lived experience to any project I am involved in. I have lost friends to suicide, and survived suicide. I have undertaken Roses in the Ocean lived experience training as a speaker with lived experience. I am also Suicide Prevention Australia's lived experience advisor.

; Strategy and ProgramGood strategy and programs are developed from the perspective of the end users, informed and where possible based in evidence. As the founding CEO of Australia's largest workplace suicide prevention program MATES in Construction I have a deep understanding of large-scale multimodal program development.
|
; Policy and EvaluationGood program design involves consideration for program fidelity and evidence of effectiveness. I am currently a confirmed PhD candidate investigating "Male help-offering in suicide prevention". As a co-author of more than 12 published articles and a book chapter in workplace suicide prevention. I have the ability to staddle both program implementation and evaluation.

; Advocacy and FundingRecognition and sustainable funding are key to success for any mental health and suicide prevention program. A strategic approach to advocacy and funding will maximise chances of success. I am involved in policy development in a number of key positions including as a member of the Queensland Mental Health and Drugs council. Through this involvement I am at the forefront of policy and funding opportunities.

; WorkplaceIt is important to apply an intergrated approach to workplace suicide prevention and mental health. As a member of the National Mental Health Commission's working group for the development of a framework for mentally healthier workplaces and as the key architect for the Australian Building and Construction Industry Blueprint for Better Mental Health and Suicide Prevention I am well placed to assist workplaces in program development.

I have had the privilege of working side by side with Jorgen for 14 years. He has an amazingly strategic mind which sees things that often don't occur to the average person. While we had robust discussions over our time, his honesty and genuine care and compassion meant no grudges were ever held - it's always about the issue not the person. Jorgen took the embryo of an idea about working with male dominated industries around offering help rather than seeking help and lead a team that created MATES in Construction as world's best practice in suicide prevention and mental health in the workplace. As I write over 200,000 workers have been through the program and 25 pieces of research that deliver evidence of the efficacy of this approach. Jorgen is an outstanding leader and a genuine authentic bloke. I could not recommend him highly enough."
John Brady, CEO MATES in Construction Qld/NT Ltd.
